MHT CET CAP Round 1 allotment: The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra released the provisional CAP Round 1 allotment lists for engineering and management admissions on August 2, 2026. Candidates allotted seats under the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) can now check their allotment status through the respective counselling portals using their Application ID and Date of Birth or password.Candidates who have secured allotments must complete all post-allotment formalities between August 3 and August 5, 2026. The schedule includes seat acceptance, online declaration, payment of the acceptance fee and reporting to the allotted institute within the prescribed deadline. Failure to complete the required steps will affect participation in subsequent counselling rounds wherever applicable.How candidates can check allotment statusEngineering aspirants can access the provisional allotment by logging into the official FE counselling portal and selecting the “Check Provisional Allotment Status (CAP Round-I)” option. MBA and MMS candidates can view their allotment through the respective counselling portal after entering their login credentials.Candidates must verify the allotted institute and branch before proceeding with the admission process.Seat acceptance options explainedCandidates allotted their first preference will have their seats automatically frozen. Such candidates must accept the allotment, pay the seat acceptance fee online and report to the allotted institute. They will not be eligible to participate in the remaining regular CAP rounds.Candidates allotted a preference other than their first choice may either self-freeze the allotted seat or choose the Betterment option. Those selecting Betterment must accept the current allotment, pay the seat acceptance fee online and remain eligible for consideration in the next counselling round while retaining the present seat.Candidates are also required to verify the details submitted in their application, including qualifying marks, category, reservation and other claims. Of those, 1,12,601 candidates belonged to Maharashtra, while 3,595 were from Outside Maharashtra. The examination was conducted at 181 centres across all 36 districts.Institute-wise closing ranks released with the allotment indicate intense competition for Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science, and Electronics and Telecommunication programmes. Top institutions, including COEP Technological University and VJTI, recorded Open category closing ranks between 860 and 960 or lower for leading branches.The counselling process will continue through four regular CAP rounds before institute-level admissions begin.
