‘I felt like I unlocked a secret version of adult life’

The conversation around work from home is once again finding space on social media. While some people enjoy the routine of going to the office, others continue to say that remote work helps them strike a better balance between their jobs and personal lives. A recent Instagram video has added another perspective to that discussion after a woman shared how just one week of working from home changed the way she looked at her everyday schedule. Her post quickly connected with many viewers, who said they too had noticed a difference in their routine, energy levels, and productivity after getting the chance to work remotely.

She finally understood the appeal of WFH

Sneha, who shared the video on Instagram, said she got to work from home for a full week because of a training programme. After experiencing it herself, she said she finally understood why so many employees strongly support remote work.Recalling her experience, she said, “I finally understood why people fight for work from home. So last week I had a training and I got to work from home the entire week. And honestly, I wasn’t prepared for what happened.”

The biggest change was the extra time

According to Sneha, not having to commute every day completely changed how her day unfolded. She said she was able to spend time on activities that usually take a back seat during a regular work week. She shared, “I suddenly had time. Time for my morning walk, time to go to the gym, time to read, time to actually enjoy my evenings with a cup of tea. I felt like I had unlocked some secret version of adult life.”The video featured the text, “The WFH hype is real,” while the caption read, “POV: you get one week of WFH and start questioning everything about your 9-5.”ID@undefined Caption not available.

She says working from home helped her perform better

Sneha said she expected working remotely to feel different, but what surprised her most was that she did not become less productive. Instead, she finished the week feeling happier and more energetic. She said, “By the end of the week, I wasn’t less productive; I was more productive. I was happier. I had more energy. And I wasn’t constantly racing against the clock.”She ended the video by asking, “Now I’m officially jealous of everyone who gets to work remotely. And does anyone else feel like they become a whole different person when they work from home, like peak productivity? Or is it just me?”

Many viewers related to her experience

The post sparked a wave of comments from people who shared their own experiences with remote work. One user joked, “And then there’s me… Remote work is so flexible that even my family isn’t convinced I’m employed anymore. They see me walking around with my laptop all day and think, ‘This guy is unemployed but pretending to be busy.’”Another wrote, “So true! Working from home feels like heaven.”Highlighting the benefit of avoiding long commutes, another commented, “Officially saving four hours of travel time and using it for something more productive, without the stress of traffic.”Another user simply added, “100% true.”Disclaimer: This article is based on a social media post, and the views expressed are those of the individual.
