India’s 80th Independence Day brought together celebrities from Bollywood, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and other corners of Indian cinema, as stars took to social media to celebrate the occasion. From Ram Charan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn to Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Yash, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Kamal Haasan and Priyanka Chopra, several prominent names shared patriotic messages, personal reflections and wishes for the country on August 15. While some celebrities saluted India’s journey since 1947, others highlighted freedom, unity, diversity and the responsibility of building the nation’s future.

Ram Charan was among the Telugu film stars who marked the occasion. The actor shared his Independence Day message on X and expressed his pride in being an Indian.“Happy Independence Day to every Indian. Proud to be a part of this incredible nation. Jai Hind.”Akshay Kumar also joined the celebrations with a message centred on the Tricolour. His post spoke about hope and the aspiration for a better tomorrow.

Ajay Devgn also posted an Independence Day message. His greeting focused on the freedom to pursue ideas and aspirations.“To the freedom that lets us dream, create and build. Happy Independence Day.”

Anupam Kher looks back at India’s journey

Anupam Kher shared a more personal reflection on Independence Day. In a self-recorded video, the actor spoke about growing up in an India that had gained independence only a few years before his birth.India became independent in 1947, while Anupam Kher was born in 1955. He described the parallel between his life and the country’s post-independence journey.“India was liberated on 15th August 1947, and I was born in 1955. In this sense, India and I have grown up together,” he said.Anupam Kher also recalled how stories about the freedom movement were passed down to him by members of his family.“I wasn’t there during independence, but its stories were a part of my childhood,” Anupam Kher said.The actor further discussed how the meaning of freedom can vary between generations. He noted that younger Indians have grown up without experiencing colonial rule. “Today’s youth is born in a free India. They have not seen slavery.
