Bengaluru vs Delhi: Couple compares 4 years in the southern city with 6 years in the capital, says, "Bangalore wins all points in safety, but..."

For people who have lived in both Delhi and Bengaluru, comparing the two cities can quickly turn into a debate about food, weather, traffic, nightlife and lifestyle. One couple has now offered its own take after spending several years in each city, highlighting what they love about Bengaluru while admitting there are some things they still miss about Delhi. Vancha and Saksham, who share content on Instagram through their joint account @pathandpassports, recently posted a video comparing their four years in Bengaluru with six years of their life in Delhi. Rather than declaring one city the overall winner, the couple focused on the everyday experiences that have shaped their lives in both places.

Food and music bring back Delhi memories

The comparison began with food, an area where both cities clearly have their own strengths. Saksham highlighted some of the South Indian favourites they enjoy in Bengaluru, mentioning “Podi idli, masala dosas, and filter coffee…” But Vancha was quick to point out what she misses from Delhi. “But, man, Delhi-style butter chicken and garlic naan is missing!” she said. The couple also spoke about music and the cultural experiences associated with Delhi. Saksham pointed out that his Bollywood-loving wife misses “Hindi songs and Punjabi mixes…” Vancha immediately agreed, saying, “Missing! It’s actually missing!” The exchange reflects one of the interesting realities of moving between Indian cities. While Bengaluru has its own strong food and cultural identity, people who have spent years in Delhi may continue to miss familiar dishes, music and social experiences from the capital.

Safety and connectivity shape their city experience

Safety was perhaps the strongest difference highlighted by Vancha. Sharing her personal experience of living in both cities, she said, “Bangalore wins all the points in safety. I feel completely safe here, whereas in Delhi, it was scary to step out after 9 PM.” Her comment is a personal account and should not be taken as a universal assessment of safety in either city. People’s experiences can vary considerably depending on neighbourhood, lifestyle, commute and other circumstances. The couple also compared the cities on traffic and public transport. According to Saksham, traffic was frustrating in both places. “In traffic, both cities are the same, but Delhi’s metro connectivity is top-class,” he said.Delhi’s extensive metro network is indeed one of the capital’s major public transport advantages. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation operates a large network connecting Delhi with parts of the National Capital Region, making the system an important part of daily commuting for millions of passengers. Vancha also recalled the spontaneous social moments that Delhi offered. “And bumping into random friends at Rajiv Chowk is something else!” she said.

Bengaluru wins them over with greenery and lifestyle

While Delhi’s metro and food remained strong points for the couple, Bengaluru received plenty of praise for its surroundings and lifestyle. Saksham pointed towards the city’s natural surroundings, saying, “But here we are surrounded by South Indian hills…” Vancha then added, “An AQI of 30!” The couple finished the thought together by highlighting Bengaluru’s greenery. Air quality, however, can change significantly from one day and neighbourhood to another, so the couple’s AQI reference reflects the conditions they experienced when the video was recorded rather than a permanent difference between the two cities. Despite everything they miss about Delhi, the couple appears settled in Bengaluru. Sharing the video, they wrote, “We love our life here in Bangalore and have no thoughts about moving, but we both spent our early life in Delhi and hence will always have a little piece of our heart”.Their comparison captures something many migrants and working professionals experience when they move between Indian cities. A new city may offer better surroundings, a different pace of life or a greater sense of comfort, while an old city continues to remain special because of the memories, food, friends and experiences built there. For Vancha and Saksham, Bengaluru may have won their current lifestyle comparison, but Delhi still holds a permanent place in their story.
