With ‘Sigma’ nearing its theatrical release, director Jason Sanjay is opening up about the support he has received from his father, actor-turned-chief minister Vijay. The young filmmaker is making his directorial debut with the Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah-starrer, and the film has been building attention ahead of its release. While Vijay’s presence at the film’s promotional events has been a talking point, Jason Sanjay has made it clear that he does not expect his father to be part of the promotions. His comments also shed light on how he views Vijay’s role in his first film journey.
Jason Sanjay says Vijay will not attend ‘Sigma’ promotions
Speaking to reporters, Jason Sanjay said Vijay is eagerly waiting to see Sigma, but his current responsibilities leave little room for promotional appearances, as reported by News 18. “My dad is very excited about the release of my film. But he does not need to come for the promotions. He will not come either. He has much bigger responsibilities. He is also very interested in seeing what I have done and is very supportive of me,” Jason Sanjay said. He added that he wants the promotions to remain focused on the film rather than mixing them with anything outside its world. Jason’s statement comes ahead of the film’s audio and trailer launch in Chennai.
Jason Sanjay says Vijay has given him his fans
Jason Sanjay was also asked what Vijay has left behind for him from his journey in cinema. His response was brief but personal. “He has given me his fans,” the filmmaker said. The remark comes as Jason prepares to face audiences with his first film as a director. Rather than speaking at length about his father’s stardom, Jason has repeatedly placed the focus on his own work and the responsibility of delivering Sigma. The film marks an important step for him as he begins his career behind the camera, while Vijay continues with his public responsibilities.
‘Sigma’ prepares for grand audio launch
The ‘Sigma’ audio and trailer launch is scheduled to take place in Chennai on September 18. Sundeep Kishan leads the cast, with Faria Abdullah as the female lead. The film also features Raju Sundaram, Sampath Raj, Shiv Pandit, Anbu Thasan, Yogi Babu, Mahalakshmi, Sheela Rajkumar and others in important roles. Thaman has composed the music. ‘Sigma’ is set to reach theatres on October 2 and will arrive during a busy release period, with Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Baththa’ and Nivin Pauly-Soori’s ’Ezhu Kadal Ezhu Malai’ also scheduled around the same time. As the launch events draw closer, Jason Sanjay’s focus remains on presenting his first directorial effort to audiences.
